Occupying a wooded plot on the coast of an island in Sweden, Villa G uses an unconventional design to take advantage of the seaward views. The home replaces a summer house built on the property in the 1960s. The new construction is made from a trio of diamond-shaped volumes, giving the structure a unique bat-like form. Its black timber exterior pays homage the site’s original Scandinavian cottage. In a stark contrast, the interior is bright and airy. The polished concrete floor and whitewashed walls act as a backdrop for vibrant pops of color from the collection of furniture. Along the western side, the internal contours are fitted with panels of glass, offering expansive views of the Baltic Sea.
