After working in the United States, a writer retires to the coast of Nova Scotia. During his career, he compiled quite a book collection meaning not only did he need a place for himself to reside, but also a home for his novels. The cabin sits perched on a cliffside overlooking the Atlantic ocean. Its abstract form is the result of large sections being removed in order to create a covered entrance and terrace. Clad in white channel-joint boards, the exterior acts a transition between the silvery coastline and the bright white interior. Internally, a light, airy atmosphere is created by a sky-lit slot that runs across the ceiling and expansive glazing. The highlight is the library. Separating the main living area from the master bedroom, the room is filled with floor-to-ceiling shelves and a window framing in views of the sea, creating a refuge to dwell amongst the books.
