Casa EC

Although it looks like an ancient fortress that has been standing in the forest for centuries, Casa EC is actually a new holiday home built in Mexico’s Jalisco region. The dwelling is comprised of five boxes arranged around a central courtyard. Each unit is staggered across the terrain in order not to disrupt the native pine trees. Taking inspiration from materials found in the landscape, their exteriors are clad in local stone which was left exposed on the interior. Wood details add warmth to the otherwise somber palette. Living spaces are dispersed throughout the network of volumes, keeping the private areas on the ends and the communal spaces at the center. Hardwood floors seamlessly extend the inside out to an exterior terrace, drawing residents and guests to gather among the verdant surroundings.
