Benguela Cove House

Neighboring a lagoon and surrounded by mountains, the Benguela Cove House was built to take advantage of the South African scenery. The home is perched on a hillside in the Benguela Cove Wine Estate in the Western Cape. Natural materials like concrete and timber clad the modern exterior. The organic palette continues on the interior with wood ceilings and cabinets, a concrete hearth, and weathered steel. In the center of the kitchen, a massive granite rock emerges from the floor to create the island. Floor-to-ceiling glazing offers the entire ground floor views of Botrivier Lagoon and the Overberg Mountains, as well as the master bedroom above. Sliding glass doors transform the main living area into an open-air pavilion, connecting with an outdoor dining area, kitchen, and expansive sundeck overlooking the water.
